IFPA collects personal information and other information that IFPA members, exhibitors, and other website visitors voluntarily provide, and we collect certain information automatically when you visit the website.

Our web server collects certain technical information automatically from website visitors, including browser type and version, activities while using the website, websites previously visited, and content visitors see or click on. This information is aggregated to measure number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed, etc. IFPA uses this information to analyze trends, administer the website, learn about user behavior, and improve the content of our site. 

To gain access to restricted resources and personalization features on the site, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. IFPA asks users to provide a username and password, first and last name, organization name, job title and/or function, phone number, address, and email address. 

IFPA collects the contact information described above, as well as information about individuals’ interests and preferences and demographic information (e.g., age or gender), through membership and exhibitor applications,

event registration forms, product orders, subscriptions, survey responses, and contest registrations, and when website visitors subscribe to email communications or contact IFPA with questions or comments.

In addition, when visitors register for events or place orders with IFPA, IFPA collects information such as goods or services purchased, billing and delivery information, and credit card or other payment information .

IFPA also collects content that website visitors voluntarily submit, post or upload when they contact IFPA or interact with the website, such as comments, photos, and videos .

Additionally, for some emails sent in HTML format by IFPA we will automatically collect specific information regarding how the recipient

interacts with that email. For those emails, IFPA monitors whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes: email address of a user, the date and time of the user's "click," a message number, name of the list from which the message was sent, tracking URL number and destination page. IFPA only uses this information to enhance its communications effectiveness and the effectiveness of its products and services and distribution of those products and services to its members. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.

IFPA uses information collected from website visitors to:

• Improve the website, website content, and IFPA’s services;
• Communicate with visitors and respond to visitors' questions, comments and preferences;
• Perform analytics and provide advertising;
• Provide information, products, and services requested;
• Provide bill reminders, order confirmations, event registrations, payment processing, and customer service messages;
• Send marketing and promotional communications;
• Improve communications and distribution of communications;
• Conduct surveys; and
• Protect IFPA’s rights and the rights of others.

IFPA shares personal information collected with entities that provide services to IFPA, such as website hosting, database and server maintenance and security, data analytics, marketing, events management, and payment processing providers .

IFPA also makes member, exhibitor, and event attendee contact information available through membership and event directories to other members, exhibitors, and event attendees. IFPA shares personal information with analytics and advertising providers, or allows them to collect information from you, as further described in the Use of Cookies section below.

IFPA discloses personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process served on IFPA; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of IFPA; or (c) protect the personal safety of IFPA personnel or members of the public.

This section describes the rights provided to residents of the European Economic Area (“EEA”) under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).

For purposes of the GDPR, the data controller for this website is the International Fresh Produce Association, a District of Columbia non-profit corporation with a principal address at 1500 Casho Mill Road Newark, DE USA 19711.

The GDPR requires that we inform you of the legal bases we rely on to process your personal data. Personal data means any information about an identified or identifiable natural person. The legal bases for processing your personal data are set forth below.

• Our legitimate interests. For example, to maintain system security, communicate with you and fulfill your requests, conduct surveys, improve our products and services, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
• Performance of a contract with you. For example, when you apply for or renew an IFPA membership, register for an event, or purchase a product or service from us.
• Compliance with laws. For example, to comply with legal and regulatory requirements or respond to a court order or legal request.
• Consent. For example, we obtain consent to send you commercial email marketing messages. Where we rely on consent to process your personal data, you can withdraw your consent at any time.

The servers where personal data is stored are located in the United States , a jurisdiction that has not been deemed by the European Commission to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data. In addition, we share personal data with service providers and third parties located outside of the EEA. When we transfer personal data from the EEA to the United States, we rely on one or more of the mechanisms deemed by the European Commission to provide appropriate safeguards. Such mechanisms may include EU Standard Contractual Clauses or consent. [The EU privacy notice must describe the adequacy mechanisms the data controller relies on to transfer personal data from the EU to the U.S., but IFPA cannot include the highlighted statements until appropriate adequacy measures are in place.]

The GDPR provides residents of the EEA certain rights with respect to their personal data. If you are a resident of the EEA, you may:

• Request access to your personal data;
• Request correction of your personal data;
• Request erasure of your personal data;
• Object to processing of your personal data;
• Request to restrict processing of your personal data;
• Request that we provide you a copy of the personal data we have about you; and
• Request to be subjected to automated decision-making or profiling.

We will endeavor to fulfill your request to exercise these rights, but we may have legal grounds or obligations to reject your request. We will respond within 30 days after we have verified that you are the data subject or are authorized to make the request on behalf of the data subject. If necessary, we may extend our response time by an additional 60 days to respond properly, but we will notify you if that is the case.

If we decide not to fulfill your request, we will tell you the reasons why. If you disagree with our response to your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection regulator in Europe. Should you have any concerns, we request that you contact us first so we can investigate, and hopefully resolve, your concerns.
